

She did her residency at Emory University where she earned multiple awards in her teaching of medical students.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in environmental science at the University of Michigan and completed medical school at Wayne State University of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan.

Kirsten Mekelburg is a board-certified pediatrician and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Her favorite part of daily practice is empowering new families to gain confidence and find the joy in being new parents. There is nothing like getting advice from someone who has a parent has also faced many of the same challenges. Being a mom herself has helped her to be able to provide practical and realistic advice to new parents. She is also on the advisory board for Community Friendship, Inc., a nonprofit psychiatric rehabilitation organization in downtown Atlanta that helps those struggling with mental illness to reclaim their independence.īeing a parent can be both beautifully rewarding and challenging. She is active in the community, volunteering at her synagogue as well as helping to develop health guidelines at her children’s school. Her favorite and most treasured activity is spending time with her 3 children- ages 5, 8 and 10. She is married to a physician and they reside in Atlanta. Mekelburg, she is one of the founding members of Children’s Wellness Center which they opened together in 2006. She enjoys educating expectant parents about newborn care and what to expect after delivery at several local Obstetrician’s offices. She is a consulting physician to Northside Hospital and loves to visit her newborn patients there shortly after delivery for their first exam! She is also on courtesy staff at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and maintains strong relationships with the pediatric subspecialists in her field to ensure her patients receive the best specialist care possible. Segal then decided to further her training there by completing a clinical fellowship in Adolescent Medicine.
